curiouser and curiouser

So. Last Wednesday my regular doctor (the one who diagosed the umbilican hernia in the first place) did an abdominal ultrasound and said he couldn't see a thing. No hernia nohow. Hmmmmm. The other doc thought the pressure under my ribs might be a gall bladder problem, but that organ is apparently in good working order as are all the other soft parts in there, as far as Dr. B could tell.

So where did the pain and pressure come from? The good doctor said it could be a Verwachsung, an adhesion from a previous operation. I told him that I hadn't had any previous operations! Obviously we were both stumped for an answer.

The good news is that the pain has actually been minimal for the past couple of weeks but the weird pressure is still there, making me think that something is going on. I guess my next appointment will either clear things up for good or label me as a total hypochondriac. We'll see.

And thanks for all your kind comments on my last post!

I'm glad that the pain is minimal, however, it would drive me nuts not to know what it is.

I hope you find out soon. When's the next appointment?

CSwiss - yeah, I'm fine with if it it indeed nothing, but I'd REALLY like to rule out anything else first so I can go back to lifting heavy objects. :-) Appointment is next Thurdsay, so not too long to wait.

I was beginning to wonder what was going on. Glad that you cleared that up . . . or not. Fingers crossed that they can make a diagnosis!

How frustrating! ON the one hand it's probably a relief to know that there's nothing going on with your gall bladder, but the fact that they can't give you a concrete answer probably lets your imagination run amok as to other probable causes! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on Thursday! Good luck!

Why on earth do you want to pick up heavy objects? :O)

Good luck Thursday!

Glad you're feeling better, but it sucks that they don't know.

Hope all is well soon, Mausi! I know it can be very frustrating, I'm dealing with some "pressure issues" right now as well (an ovarian cyst with some curious growth inside, bummer).

I'm sure the clever German docs have ruled that out for you by now!

It just goes to show, we are the only true experts on our bodies, no matter how many certificates the doctors and specialists have up on their walls.

Love & good health to you,
Pippa

(PS ~ I've moved over to wordpress now.)

Christina - Just keep asking questions, and don't except answers like "Oh, it's just..." or "Oh, it's probably...". Good to hear you feel less pain though!

Why is all this reminding me of when Donica had her pain that could never be diagnosed...and then suddenly we found a doctor who knew exactly what it was (a cut nerve from her hysterectomy years before) and found a small hernia in the process! Sigh! I do hope they can get to the bottom of this, Christina, before you have a total collapse!!! But I AM glad the pain has lessened...just not the nagging sense that something is still going on!

I agree with Swenglish! If my mom had asked more questions and been more persistent about some abdominal "curiousities," she might not have died of ovarian cancer. Ask for an abdominal ultrasound!

claire - Well, the doc thought it was cleared up, but I sure don't. We'll see...

Betsy - Yes, it's nice to have a couple of things ruled out.

diane - I'm not dead yet! :-)

trac - You're right - I should be milking it and making the men do all the work!

J - Well, not that much better, but I'll survive.

mar - Thanks! Only a few more days to go.

Pippa - I'm so sorry to hear about YOUR problem! I haven't been keeping up with many blogs lately but I'll be sending healing energy your way.

swenglish - I sure will keep asking. The discomfort is back this week so I KNOW there's something going on.

ginnie - The guy I'm going to see next Thursday is a gastroenteric specialist, which my regular GP definitely is not, so I'm hoping to get a clear answer.

valian - No worries - I can still cook and will be back soon!

carol - My GP did an abdominal ultrasound last week and supposedly found nothing, but he's not an expert in that area so I'm going to insist they do another one at the hospital clinic.

Oh, I hope the specialist will have some answers/ideas and that you'll be able to treat whatever's going on. Thinking of you
