another year older and deeper in debt

The artist formerly know as Boy14 turns 15 today.

This is what he looked like at 6 months.

Here he is at 6:30 this morning, hairy legs and all. What happened to my cheerful little baby? In this picture he was apparently having a Clearasil moment and didn't want his face plastered all over the internet.

Why can't everyone just leave me alone?

Boy11 gave him the best present ever: a bag of tortilla chips and a jar of cheese dip disguised as an octopus. Some day scientists will figure out how the 11-yr-old mind works.

Breakfast was a low-key affair.

Later there will be cake.

Tomorrow is party time with the usual supects. Those who have been following my blog for awhile will know that this is also the kick-off to the Three Birthdays in Less Than Two Weeks Hell Extravaganza that we so look forward to every year.

P.S. Sparky, loving husband to Jen and the best virtual boyfriend a girl could ever have, is celebrating his 30-something birthday today, too. Happy Birthday, Sparky! Hope you have a great day.

Happy Birthday Boy 15! Unlike you, I'm not optimistic that scientists will figure out the mind of an 11 year old -- some things are just best left unknown. Stupendous Octopus though!

Wow, I had a nephew who looked like boy of x months and ended up looking like boy15 complete with slouch over table. Good thing I don't remember being that way myself (denial).

Happy birthday Boy 15 ... you might not believe it now, but it does get better as you get older, at least until you are in your 50's.

I have a memory of my brother - seven years older - looking exactly like that at age 15 - slumped over, his head in his forearms.

I found out later it was the first time he'd gotten really drunk, and was hungover for three days.

You have fabulous kids. I love that genius gift. I hope you get the cartoon "Zits" there so you can say "That's MY kid" just like I did everyday.

AAAAAWWW, Mausi my sweetheart,

I can't believe you thought of me!!!! Thank you so much for the nice birthday wishes and sorry I could not be on your Blog yesterday.

Happy B-Day to Boy15 from me, and may he recognize that all you need in life are money and friends. And of course, that true friends come when you have money ;))).

Smooches,
- Sparkles

Very nice. My mom had 4 b-days in 2 weeks. Funny thing it was (still is) same time frame too: End of Feb. to early March.

Best of luck with the Extravaganzola.

The CA desert can be so beautiful, Lilli, especially in early spring when the flowers of the desert find the water runoffs before the ground is arid. Maybe you'll find them?

maria - Thanks! Still one more cake to go before I sleep.

cartooncat - He was our little Mr. Sunshine. :-)

CanSwiss - At that age they can pretty much entertain themselves so I get a break.

Silvia - It's a FAKE Yes Torty from Edeka because they don't have the real ones any more. We kind of have a birthday breakfast tradition and the kids have been getting one since they were little.

thimbleanna - I guess it will have to remain a mystery. He sure does like to "make stuff" though and we've got little bits of scotch tape stuck all over the floor to prove it. :-)

maribeth - He survived and raked in the birthday loot!

diane - Boy15 thanks you kindly.

mike - I can't believe he's as big as he is now, he just towers over me.

mar - Only one party to go!

Sivle - Slapping that on a plate is about all I'm up to at 6:30 a.m.

ian - I'm not looking forward to that and we're trying to put it off as long as possible but it's pretty hard with the attitude towards alcohol around these parts.

Betty - We don't really get any cartoons here, but I've seen Zits when we're on vacation and I love it.

Sparky - *smoooch*! Yes, money and friens, friends and money - that's all that counts, right? :-)

swenglishexpat - Can't foo me - I recognize that expression from the IKEA Family newsletter we've been getting! :-)

christina g - He's still pretty cute, but in a different way.

gardner - Wow, 4 in two weeks, that must have been fun. There seem to be a lot of March birthdays out there for some reason. Warm summer nights, I guess. :-)

eurotrippen - I can't believe we've kept them alive for this long!

Betsy - He just makes this stuff up and goes for it. We never know what he's going to create next.

expat - Only 3 1/2 more years of school - wow. They can't drive until they're 18 here so we have a bit to go on that too.

ellem- Thanks! I'll pass it on.

hexe - I'm all caked out!

ginnie - I think your comment was meant for someone else's blog, but I liked it anyway. :-)
