striiiiiiiiike!

No, nothing to do with baseball, just a note that the Deutsche Bahn has been conducting warning strikes since Monday so if you've got any traveling to do within Germany, inform yourselves beforehand. The strikes were supposed to be mostly in the southwestern Germany, but I know that the Hannover and Hamburg train stations were affected this morning and many people got to work/school late or not at all.

Lots more to say, just no time right now. We had a wild and crazy almost kid-free weekend and my Monday was quite eventful. I'll tell y'all all about it later.

No trains were running in Hessen from 05:00 - 09:00. I got to work at 11:15am and I was only 4 hours and 15 mins late! (there is a good side though, a lie in this morning and a shortened working day!)

Train? What's a train?

I used to believe the American rumor going around, "each town in Germany has a train station", but now I know better. The nearest is 30 km from here. No S-Bahns or U-Bahns, or even streetcars, either.

We do have a bus that runs. One whole time per hour.

*Sigh*

Gee, late trains and trains not showing up at all? That's not a strike, that's Deutsche Bahn's normal service. People probably won't even think there's a strike on.

Yeah, I heard about that on the way back from Holland.

Wild and crazy weekend, eh? Well, I'll have to look out for your next post then :)

Hmmmm. Donica flies in to Hannover on the 10th. Hope they're working by then, assuming she's using the train to get to the office. Then again, maybe she'll take a taxi.

Am eager to hear more about all your excitement! :)

That train strike was a pain! Hopefully there aren't any others planned!

Eeek! How frustrating! Public transport workers never endear themselves to anybody when they strike, do they?

Mr 19 was to take the train from Heidelberg to Frankfurt in order to fly home yesterday, so I was informed of the strike ... he and his friend were lucky the one now living in Heidelberg has a driver's license. And a car!
happy wednesday :)

haddock - Well good news for you then, eh? :-)

martina - I mostly take the bus, but we do actually have a train station. Unfortunately the train that conveniently takes people to the airport doesn't stop in our town. Town before and town after, yes, just not here. Deutsche Bahn says, "Wir können nicht an jeder Milchkanne anhalten." :-)

maribeth - I'm sure glad I didn't need to go anywhere!

J - Yes, it's hardly a difference, is it? DB's repuation is going to be worse than ever after this though.

CanSwiss - Well, wild and crazy is relative. You have to remember we live in Dullsville. ;-)

ginnie - I guess they're planning to keep on striking randomly until they get through the negotiations, but Hannover was fine today so I wouldn't worry too much.

Sparky - Hi cutie! Wow, I'm blushing 10 shades of pink. Mutual internet crush. :-) :-)

colourmecrazy - I really don't know what they have in store - it could go on for a while.

ms mac - Lots of people were just furious yesterday. There were some interviews in the paper and some had missed final exams or feared losing their jobs by arriving late. Deutsch Bahn has sunk to new lows of popularity.

mar - Wow, good thing you knew about it!
