don't tell anyone, but...

Oh no! It's another meme. Andrea from BloggingMama tagged me for this one:

1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

*****************************************************************

Here goes. Don't laugh.

1. Peanut butter makes me break out like a teenager.

2. My first car was a 1962 VW Beetle. It's still in the family.

3. Being bitten on the nose by a duck at an elementary school science fair when I was a kid taught me the meaning of pain.

4. Mr. M and I each have our own duvet so I like to wrap myself up like a human burrito while I'm sleeping with only my nose sticking out.

5. I go to bed with my socks on about 9 months of the year.

6. If I'm using salt I usually throw a pinch of it over my left shoulder. You just never know.

7. When I was 10 one of my brothers accidently killed my Sea-Monkeys®. I'll never let him forget it.

8. I come from a long line of thumb-suckers. I did eventually manage to give it up, but it went on for way longer than I care to admit.

There. And if that didn't satisfy you, more random trivia can be found here, here and here.

I won't tag anyone but go ahead and do this if you want to.

Mr Mar and I don't share a duvet either, to each its own :)
Are you still wearing socks to bed now?
I'd love to see a pic of that VW Beetle!

Ooh Christina, you are very brave indeed! I am DELIGHTED to learn just how strange you are. I always suspected it, mind you.

How on EARTH did you manage to get bitten by that duck...? Had it been me I guess I still wouldn't have stopped screaming...

Do you know that I didn't have a clue what a sea-Monkey was until today??

Now I think I missed something in my childhood.

That separate duvet thing is so German! I remember when they tried in Australia for a while, they called it European and all the beds in the furniture shops had double beds made up with two quilts. I was desperate to try it but Mr Mac was adamant he didn't want separate quilts. He still won't let us try even though the Swiss do it too.

I wonder if it's because it makes it easier to hang them out the window to freshen them.....

Re: #8 - and you have such lovely teeth! One would never have guessed. :) Oh, and I'm waiting for the answer about the duck, too. This ought to be good.

mar - Oh yes, if we sleep under one blanket one of us always ends up freezing and no, I haven't worn socks in the past few days but it's a bit chilly tonight...

My Dad is restoring the car in Vancouver so I don't have any pics right now.

Antipo - Didn't want to deprive you all of my strangeness any longer. :-)

tobias -Stupid me - I stuck my face into a box and there just happened to be a duck in there. I don't know who was more surprised, me or him/her.

CanSwiss - Oh you have to get some - they're so cute! I saved up all my pocket money for those things.

ms mac - It may well have something to do with airing them out or fitting them into the washing machine - don't know for sure.

Lisa - Well, the orthodontist gets credit for the teeth :-)

I don't mind the twin duvets, but I still don't like the German system of having 2 matrasses on the double bed.

Hey Christina! I missed you! Somehow when I switched from IE RSS feed to Google Reader, I lost you... But today I found you again and realized (again) what a wonderful blog you have -- and what a great writer you are!

vailian - I think I'd hate two mattresses as well but we have a king-size waterbed so no worries there. :-)

Carol - So there you are! Glad to have you back.

You love your duvet because you can wrap up like a burrito. I love it because I can leave my feet hanging out. A plan for every sleeping style!

The pinch of salt over your shoulder made me LOL, Christina! I can just see your kitchen (since you do so much cooking!). :)

I did it!

The salt thing made me laugh, too. And I could not sleep with socks on! They keep me awake if I forget to take them off.

Hi! :O)

Oh dear, I feel a confession coming on!

I HATE those sea-monkeys, and I sort of, accidently you understand, never on purpose, I would never be so cruel to either children or animals...

...kind of killed my son's Sea-Monkeys when he was about 7!

Oh dear!

You won't tell anyone will you?

dixie - Sometimes when I'm in a daring mood I stick my feet out too! I love my duvet! :-)

ginnie - I have to sweep the floor A LOT! :-)

angie - Excellent! Must go read.

trac - Hi! So glad you're back. No, no, it's not bad to not love sea monkeys. But when you're 10 they're something special even if they are only brine shrimp.

J - We are so sensible. I've read that cold feet are a leading cause of insomnia.
