a star is was born

My little monkey turned 14 today!

He used to look like this:

Now he looks like this:

"Highway to Hell", anyone?

You KNOW there was cake, but I seem to be having a Mercury Retrograde week and will have to wait until tomorrow to tell you all about it.

Happy Birthday, Big Guy!

This is a stupid question and you can hit me, but did you give him a guitar?

At March 01, 2007 12:04 a.m., Blogger christina said...

tinakala - Nope, he bought the electric bass himself last year and has been trying to start a band with a few friends.

Chicks dig bass players!

I hope his birthday was great. He's quite the handsome young man!

Was he mad at you for posting such an adorable baby photo?! Dixie is right, chicks LOVE musicians.

When does that metamorphosis happen? Is it an overnight thing or do you get a warning?
Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, young man, and watch out for the groupies :)

I'm LOL over the comments, Christina, because my nephew IS in a band and it's so true. The Girls. The Groupies. But fun nonetheless. You never know when something like this is written in the stars.

My biggest laugh, though, was how nonchalantly you said you're having a Mercury Retrograde week. Aren't we all! :(

BTW, Happy Birthday to all your birthday men this week! I think you have more than one?!

A tad belated Happy Birthday to him!

Do ze Germans congratulate each other on their children's birthdays? The Dutch do, and it always makes me laugh, but it's still a nice custom. So: Congratulations, Christina on your son's birthday!

Does he accompany your ukelele tunes with his electric guitar or is it the other way around?

They grow up so fast!!!
My oldest will be 10 years old this July.......double digits. And my baby will be 5. No baby anymore, right?
No, he'll always be the baby!!!

Happy birthday to your monkey! I think my monkey and yours would get along well--mine plays guitar and bass and wants to learn drums and is always trying to get a band together.

So cute! Happy birthday, Boy14! That was about the age my brother started playing guitar and his popularity with the ladies shot through the roof, culminating with Homecoming and Prom King victories a few years later. ;) Not to worry you or anything!

Children do grow up so quickly; but really we wouldn't want it to be any different if we stop and think about it. Great photos! And a belated happy birthday to your son.

Hi Christina,
Thanks for dropping by and leaving a word!
- from your next-door neighbour.

dixie - Yeah, who doesn't love a musician! He has very strking "Snow White" colouring - a pale complexion, almost black hair and dark blue eyes so I think he'll be pretty handsome when he's all grown up.

schokolade mädchen - No, he doesn't really mind having pictures of himself posted.

mar - I live to make you hungry! Photo is in Friday's post.

maria - It's in the mail!

lesley - It seems to happen overnight and all of sudden they're all grown up. Pretty scary.

CanSwiss - Up until now the groupies have been pretty subdued but I'm sure it's going to pick up some time.

ginnie Oh yes! TONS of Mercury stuff going on this week. How about you? :-)

Elemm - Thanks!

Betsy - Thank you! No, ze Germans don't congratulate the parents on the kids' birthdays, but it's a cardinal sin to congratulate someone the day before and you're expected to make your own cake and throw your own party. Viva the cultural differences, eh?

christina - Oh yes, they'll always be babies.

bonnie - Yes, they even resemble each other a bit, don't they? I think your monkey practices a lot more than mine does, though.

J - Yep, no mistaking whose kid he is, eh? He looked almost exactly like me when I was a little when he was 5 or so. He also has quite a bit from his dad, though, although we can't figure out who he got the black hair from.

swissmiss - Thanks! You've got a few more years to go before the teenager stage. Enjoy it while it lasts. :-)

Angie - We'll see. I think his popularity will increase when he starts realizing the importance of a daily shower!

woman wandering - Thank you - I wanted to put the post up much earlier but real life somehow got in the way, as usual.

Tim - Oh yes, I love watching them go through all the different phases. And having two is even more interesting, especially two as different as my sons are.

ian - Hey, neighbour! Small world, isn't it? Thanks so much for stopping by.
