playing with fire

The weather was gorgeous this weekend, warm and sunny and just plain enjoyable. And what better way to take advantage of all that than with a weenie roast? Funny how males both large and small seem to have the same fascination with fire. We don't have any lighters around the house and it luckily never occured to our boys to play with matches (which were well hidden in any case), but they sure do love to sit outside and stare into the flames. Cave man stuff, I guess. Today they made MY lunch for a change!

I love fire too... I can look at it for a long time. Your boys are really handsome... I loved the photo of Boy10 and the edible "card" below too.

Oh, and your cake looks absolutely delectable, yum.

Please tell me it's not just a guy thing, right?! I LOVE to stare into a campfire, for instance (like when we were at the farm in Michigan).

BTW, which of your boys favors Mr. M more? They both have such distinctive looks...like they look like someone :)

In the third picture it looks like Boy10's pants are on fire!

He looks pretty happy, though, so I'm guessing it's just me and the fact that I haven't had that second cup of coffee yet. Everything is so much clearer after coffee............

Ummm...I don't know who is sitting off-stage to the right.

But...his bratwurst looks considerably more excited than the other two.

What sweet boys you have! I love to sit around a fire and just watch.

Italy is having great weather as well (almost 70 F). I wouldn't know because I am here in Indiana right now where it is snowing at this moment for the first time this fall! It is freaking COLD!

I'm a little jealous. I love to play with fire (literally, not just figuratively). I can support your hypothesis of males loving fire with a great picture of four generations of the Partnerin's patriarchy gathered around the three BBQ's they set up for a summerfest.

Hello Christina!
Sorry that I'm disturbing you. Searching for what I need, I just found your thoughts about the "long term resident" that you have written months ago. Now, I'm an albanian emmigrant, living actually in Italy. I'm very interested about this UE directive and its apply in Germany. I would love to live in Germany, but I cann't do it if they do not apply this directive. I mean "2003/109/CE".
Could you please, gently, help me with any news or any link about it (but not in german)? Another problem of mine is that I have my parents with me and I do not know if there is any law that permits me to take them with me.
Thank you in advance, hope I have not disturb you. Hope too, to find any answer from you.
Sincerely Denada

lilian - thanks! They are pretty cute most of the time.

expat - yeah, the whole house smells like smoke now! We really love those chairs too - they're teak so they should last a good long while, which is why we bought them.

Ginnie - Yes, I think most people like a good fire. Boy13 looked a lot like me until he was about 5 but now he looks a bit more like Mr. M except for the black hair - we have NO idea where he got that because the rest of us are so mousy. Boy10 doesn't look like anyone in the family but he kind of has Mr M's colouring.

Betsy - He noticed that too and thinks the picture is really cool! But his pante weren't really burning, thank goodness.

ms mac - Just for you!!! I know how much you like your weenies. ;-)

elemmm - go out onto the sidewalk and start a fire and see how many people join in!

Sal - *pretends to be shocked but is actually ROTFL* You certainly have an eye for detail! I'll pass on your comment to the bratwurst owner. He'll be so proud ;-)

Maribeth - Yes, there's something really special about sitting around a fire with your loved ones.

cynthia - SNOW already! Wow. But maybe that's normal for Indiana? We probably won't get any until December here.

Mike - Yes, the men sure love their Q, don't they? Don't you have an old beaten up drum to start a fire in?

traveller one - They were pretty good. I got to be the offical "weenie tester" which sounds a lot more exciting than it actually is. :-)

denada02 - I'm afraid I can't help you since I know nothing at all about the EU directive you mentioned, but you could perhaps go to the German Foreign Office site where you'll find some information in English on the German Immigration Act.

We had the same kind of weather last weekend, but now it has turned COLD...turn on the heat kind of cold.

The photos are great; I can fell the warmth of the fire and almost taste the hot dogs!

dixie - Hmm- I don't know if I can ever eat another s'more after reading that certain post of yours. :-)

Cathy - Our weather has been amazing lately. 22°C today and brilliant sunshine.

Lynn - Thanks for visiting. I'll pass along your compliment to the young man in question.

Betty- They seem to think they DO live in different climates! The little one is always wearing a sweater because he says he's cold and I can't even keep a pair of socks on the big guy for more than a couple of hours because he says he's boiling.

CanSwiss - If the weather's anything like we've been having here then you might be in luck.

These are great photos of your boys. Doggie roasts and controlled wood fires are always fun. I think most of us boys and men enjoy playing with fire and I know some girls who enjoy that, too. :)
