Missing the Great White North
HAPPY CANADA DAY!!
It's a gorgeous day and we're having a little family celebration in honour of Canada Day. The West Coast Connection should be waking up just about now so I may give them a call later.
What's a Canadian? Well, some people maintain that a Canadian is just an unarmed American with healthcare, but that's not all there is to it. This next clip is part of I am Canadian, a very popular ad campaign for Molson Canadian beer. Notice the stereotypes on both sides of the border.
And how could we forget Bob and Doug McKenzie (aka Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) of Second City Television fame. Yes, I do actually know people like this. Luckily none of them are related to me.
G'day, eh?

Oh Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love, in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts, we see thee rise.
The true north strong and free.
From far and wide, oh Canada.
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land.
Glorious and free.
Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
That's my way of wishing Happy Canada Day right back at ya!
And in case you're wondering, nope, I'm not Canadian ;-)
Happy Canada Day!
Yes, I loved the McKenzie Brother's too!
YAA!! Happy Canada DAY!!!! It was beautiful weather and the day was perfect!!
Hope you had a great Canada Day!
:-)
Have a good Canada day.....the Molson advert was excellent! :)
Rick Moranis?? I didn't even know he was Canadian! I only know him from "The Little Shop of Horrors" (and of course "Honey, Who Shrunk the Kids") Although I did know Bob and Doug McEnzie, buit I never realized it was him. Na sowas!
Yeah! Christina, yesterday we woke up, supported Canadians with a pancake breakfast, then dashed back to the house to get our chairs. Walked one block and watched a great parade. 1.5 hrs later we walked home, dropped off our stuff and went to the Key for more fun...
Ah it was a great day. I miss the fireworks but I guess we will be around to see them at the end of the month.. And same with you!!! hehe
ellasdevil - Aww, thanks. And you knew all the words too. ;-)
Maribeth - My two younger brothers used to do a great imitation of Bob and Doug.
Andrea - I saw your great pictures. Looks like it's going to be a wonderful summer.
Karen - Thanks!
Haddock - Yes, I think it's really funny too. All the stereotypes rolled into one.
CanadianSwiss - Yep, he is. SCTV was on from 1976 to 1984 so it was a long time ago and he went on to do other stuff. Did you wave your flag today?
Expat - Sounds like you had a fun day - there's usually something good going on in North or West Van for Canada Day.
I remember that Molson ad.
Happy Canada Day!
