A-E-I-O-U (and sometimes Y)

Not much time to blog today. Yesterday I was working on the next assigment for my translation course and managed to permanently delete 3/4 of it (yes, I had it saved but it disappeared anyway) which means I'll have to fire up the ol' brain cells again today and try to retrieve the data from my mental hard drive. I know it's in there somewhere and this time I'll save it in 17 different places just to make sure.

In a feeble attempt to tide you over until my next real post, here's a weird, language-related (well, sort of) 80's video for ya.

As the song says:

There are 178 parent languages on our planet with over 1000 dialects. It's amazing we communicate at all. Languages and dialects - with this one thing in common...

(is it just me, or did everyone back in the 80's look just slightly unwashed?)

I think everybody in the 80s looked liked serial killers!

Who are those people and how did they ever get a recording contract?

Ms Mac - You are MUCH too young (and beautiful!) to know about EBN-OZN - you were just a little slip of a thing when they had this one hit wonder.

I don’t know EBN-OSN. So, when I researched it on the Internet, I LEARNT they had made a splash around 1983.
Hum. At that time, I was ONLY 11 years old and I knew ONLY “The Beatles”, “Madonna” and “Julio Iglesias”. ;) (My parents liked Julio Iglesias.)

mar - they were gone in the blink of an eye. It was probably only through the people I hung around with that I knew about them.

Nori - You are still so young! Yes, it was around 1983 and I was and old lady of 20. And Julio Inglesias - whoooo!

Hilarious!!! I can remember writing EBN-OZN on my folders in school, but somehow managed to block out just how truly scary these guys were! I don't think I would accept an apple from that blonde guy without first checking for pinholes or razor blades! ;-)

I also missed EBN-OSN (was 14 in '83). I would assume the lead singer now hangs his head in embarrassment when thinking of that video.

Betsy - Geez, I was assuming that you would have been in kindergarten in 1983. :-) Yep, those guys were pretty scary - NOT someone you'd take home to meet your parents.

hexe - One of the guys, the dark haired one, I think, died of a heart attack in 1998 at the age of 45. The other one is still around though.

All right, me again. I just watched it to the end. These guys are ringers for the junkies who hang out on the Kaiserplatz. No joke.

Good Lord! Thank God the 80s only lasted for 10 years. Now I know what hell is like...
