Hi Christina;
We still have an hour and a half to go. Mr.C is already asleep on the couch. I posted our sparkler pictures and hope to make it to midnight! I love your fireworks pictures, they turned out wonderful! Up so late, I hope you can sleep the day away tomorrow. I wish you lived nearby because I'd have you over for leftovers...:)

Once again you are amazing! I worked at a newspaper for 10 years and the whole time, plus time before that, we used the same fireworks pictures each July 4! Someone got lucky and got decent pictures and no one ever could again. Finally, we stopped trying. There was no need as long as the ones we had didn't wear out.

Thanks, guys! As for the photos, these were some that Mr. M set off in our garden. I used the patented "put camera on 'fireworks' setting, aim lens towards sky and cross fingers" method. The fireworks did the rest.:-)

Those were incredible. You still did well because fireworks are hard to get no matter what camera you have because of the darkness and need for a tripod. Great job!

Fabulous Fotos !!!! You are a google nut! I've learned more about German customs than I ever thought.. We must chat about this meat fondue .. it sounds delish--something I never tried.
Happy New Year to the Mausi family!

Your house looks like such a house, your life looks like such a life ... real life ... while most of the time I fell like I'm making it all up as I go along ... just a day or so ahead of HH and the questions I know are coming.

Expat - Ooh, you're supposed to use a tripod? I'm glad no one told me that beforehand. :-)Just a total fluke that they worked out.

Schatzi! I'd be delighted to spend a couple hours telling you about the wonders of a meat fondue! :-)

berlinbound - Ahh, Richard, don't be fooled by the pretty pictures. Sometimes making it up as we go along is all we CAN do, and I'm certainly no exception.

Hi Mrs. Darling -We just got a new camera and it seems to be really good for that kind of thing. It was the firs time I'd ever tried anything like that. Ignorance is bliss, I guess. :-)

Oh those pictures are great! You're inspiring me to try mine out on some next time around.

Dixie - I think sometimes the spontaneous photos are the best ones. The ones I plan for usually turn out to be kind of crappy.

Happy New Year! I had a wonderful New Year´s Eve in Germany. Everyone in the neighborhood was setting off fireworks. It was great. I will upload the photos as soon as we have an internet connection in our new apartment. I just wanted to say hello from Duessledorf!

Check out this odd building. I've heard this town is so exciting. That was a joke. Typical university town with nothing to do..

I have just caught up on your last posts, Christina, after my vacation and wish you the best in 2006, especially when it comes time for your vacation July/August and the health of your father. Your photos are marvelous, as always; your editorials are educational and heart-warming. I just love coming to your blog!
