how do you say 'my one true love' in French?

We had the remains of the very yummy French cheese today - Neufchâtel Coeur de Bray, Roquefort and Munster Géromé, along with grapes and fresh figs. Is there anything better?

So much for trying to lose weight. *sigh*

To answer your question in the penultimate sentence, "No."

Regarding that "losing weight" thing...doesn't a bottle of red wine protect you from the evils of those yummy cheeses (per the "French Paradox").

Or perhaps I'm just making more excuses to drink wine. Not that excuses are needed.

Well, Sal, considering that finishing off a bottle of red wine would knock me out for at least a week, that just might work!

Hi Sal,

The "French Paradox" just states that the French, despite their relatively high-fat, high-alcohol diets (which are also comparatively low-carb and high-fiber, on the positie side), sufer from fewer HEART- and CIRCULATORY diseases, as well as less cnacer. (Which is probably all due to the anti-oxidant effect of the red wine's Rutin)

Sorry, but the wine does nothing to protect you from gaining weight... quite the contrary.

Maybe if you just eat the cheese?
Some of them are low-carb ;)

Red wine to go with it would be perfect. But the again I think red wine is perfect with Fish & Chips :)

I'm reluctant to "smut up" Christina's comments box, but visit www.love-holdalls.blogspot.com for the anecdote I was going to leave! (R17.)

Looks wonderful. And you've got to eat SOMETHING, right?

Haddock - I'll skip the wine and just take the fish and chips, please.

Lillian - there's just too much good food in the world, isn't there? I hope I have enough time to try it all.

Hannah - you naughty girl! :-) :-) I bet your mum spit her tea all over the tablecloth, eh? If I posted what I ate every day, there'd be no more room on the internet.

cmhl - well, it's not always that exciting. I make a mean frozen pizza!

Karen - sure, why not eat what you want and die happy, right? :-)

Tat - Is branston pickle what you would use in a cheese and pickle sandwich? I'm not up on those fine English foods.
