Today we're taking our visitors on a trip to Hamelin (Hameln), home to the infamous Pied Piper, known as Der Rattenfänger (the rat catcher) in German. The town is only a 45 minute drive from where we live, and there's lots to see.

More when we return!

haddock - yes, I was just reading about the Christmas market in a brochure today. Sounds lovely.

J - Wolfsburg is about a half hour's train ride north of here, I think.

ms mac - there were actually rat catchers back then, but the Pied Piper is a legendary figure. They think the story of the children disappering from the town was really related to the residents being persuaded to move out of Hamelin to found new cities.

Garnet - I'll have to check the camera and see if there are any good ones on there!

'Tis a wonderful story, indeed! And, a cute ornament (?) of the piper, the children, and the town!
