never a dull moment

Taken about an hour ago: hot air balloon fixin' to land in a field a couple of blocks away from our house.

While we were eating dinner we heard a familiar blow torch kind of noise outside and knew it was hot air balloon season once again. When we ran out onto the terrace to take a look, the balloon, its passengers waving wildly, was directly above us. Some days there are four or five balloons at a time. Very colourful. You will NOT catch me going up in one of those things any time soon.

I'd like to go up in a hot air balloon. I dont like heights, but I went up in a glider last summer and it was really quiet something.

We have lots of those here too; it's always a laugh, as the dog barks at them. He seems to perceive them as intruders :-)

Karen - that's funny about your dog. You wouldn't think a balloon would be all that threatening. Maybe it's the hissing noise that bothers him?

Elemm -Because it's scary!! It's not so much the height I'd be afraid of as the chance of bursting into flames (which I read happened somewhere recently). I'll stay on the ground, thanks! :-)

LOL @ christina. Ballooning happens to encompass both my biggest phobias- heights and bursting into flame.

So yeah, now I shall rethink my weekend plan

*scratches ballooning off the list*

Nice scene to see out your window, but I agree; I would definitely not want to go up in one.
Yesterday I saw a helicopter outside my window conducting navy exercises, I think; I took photos but haven't uploaded them yet; to come...
Cathy
p.s. are you hearing a lot about the hurricane devastation in the U.S.; New Orleans in particular is just devasted.

Hi Cathy! Yes, the hurricane damage is all over the news here. Absolutely heartbreaking.
